The Iron Druid Chronicles — Reading Order

Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles follows Atticus O'Sullivan, the last of the Druids, who has been alive for over two thousand years and runs an occult bookshop in modern-day Tempe, Arizona. When he is not walking his Irish wolfhound Oberon (who can talk thanks to a telepathic bond) or making herbal tea, Atticus is dodging Celtic gods, vampires, werewolves, and various pantheons who all want something from the last practitioner of Druidic magic.

Read the nine main novels in order, starting with Hounded and ending with Scourged. There are also several novellas that fill in gaps between the main books.

The Iron Druid Chronicles is urban fantasy at its most fun. Hearne's greatest creation is the dynamic between Atticus and Oberon — the dog's commentary on sausages, puddles, and the relative merits of various French poodles provides constant comic relief. The series also features one of the most entertainingly diverse mythological rosters in the genre, with Irish, Norse, Hindu, Native American, and Greco-Roman deities all making appearances. The early books are lighthearted and fast-paced; the later books raise the stakes considerably.
